The Show of Hands Trio looks a little different this autumn…

It’s been quite a 12 months for Show of Hands, featuring an extraordinary reaction to their haunting cathedral tour ‘Sanctuary’, sell-out shows at eminent venues like Shakespeare’s Globe and the Cutty Sark, solo tours, duo tours and Steve’s writing for the upcoming studio album. Miranda and husband Dan are embarking on their own adventure with their first baby due in November, and so Cormac Byrne (legendary percussionist of Seth Lakeman Band fame) steps into the breach with his spectacular talents to complete the Show of Hands autumn trio.

Together, Steve and Phil will deliver the festival favourites that fans know and love, with Cormac adding a new twist. They’ll also showcase the results of Steve’s recent songwriting

with ‘No Secrets’ ‘Make the right noises’ ‘Battlefield Dance floor’ and ‘Dreckley’ all featuring on the forthcoming studio album. Steve and Phil have an unblemished track record when it comes to identification and encouragement of emerging talent on the music scene, and for their autumn tour they have enlisted Alden, Patterson and Dashwood – a striking combination of guitar, fiddle, dobro and voices (with Findlay Napier making an appearance on the Scottish dates).

Steve says, “We are thrilled for Miranda and Dan and while we’ll certainly miss Miranda on the tour it’s given us an opportunity to do things a little differently. Cormac is a sublime musician and his input adds a fresh edge to our sound. And as for Alden, Patterson and Dashwood – you’re going to love ‘em!”

Have loved seeing their concerts over the years, mainly in Cornwall from whence I hail ; and have really enjoyed the inclusion of Miranda. Saw SoH most recently in Tunbridge Wells. Best wishes to Miranda and Dan with new-born child. Cormac's addition to the group adds a great new edge. Really felt they must have known I was in the front rows audience in TW when they opened the show with Follow me down, cousin Jack, and then sang Drekley as their third song. Brilliant show. I look forward to the forthcoming new album; and, of course, many more tours/concerts for years to come.
