Show of Hands deeply values diversity, inclusivity, and respect for all individuals. It has recently been brought to our attention that the promoter of our 'Songs of the People' concert with historian Michael Wood at the Holywell Rooms in May has been accused of making a number of historical racist comments on social media.
Until these accusations are comprehensively disproved, we have no option but to sever all connections with Oxford Music and Folk. We fully support Kathryn Roberts, Sean Lakeman, and Sam Sweeney for doing the same. We believe in promoting events that celebrate diversity and inclusion for all individuals and as a band have always stood firmly against racism and discrimination.
We will continue to use our platform to promote a society where everyone feels safe, welcome, and respected.
However we are pleased to say that we have been able to work directly with the Holywell Rooms to keep this gig on our tour.
